Death and taxes. As the old saying goes, the two are inevitable.  Yet many development officers, especially if they are younger, don’t have personal experience with probate, closing an estate and taxes other than ordinary income tax.  This presentation, aimed at professionals who are newer to fundraising in general, and planned giving in particular, will give attendees an understanding of the probate process, how beneficiary designations work and can simplify estate planning, and the different tax implications that our benefactors face as they make decisions about their philanthropy.  The final part of the program will explore how to talk about taxes, death and probate, and how to integrate them into fundraising discussions.
