Planned giving today isn’t only for the large nonprofits that can afford to hire financial and legal specialists. Many small and medium-sized nonprofits are launching successful gift planning programs or expanding their informal efforts because of the tremendous value it can bring to their organization. Planned Giving: The Basics is an all-day program focusing on the nuts and bolts of gift planning. This interactive, practical training is designed to provide simple, specific ideas to help you start or enhance a planned giving program. The agenda includes:

  • Overview of gift planning
  • Finding the planned giving donor
  • Marketing methods
  • Discussions on legacy societies, donor visits, and blended gifts
  • Accepting a bequest after your donor passes
  • Examples and stories to get you started!

The program is team taught by:

  • Brandy Bertram – Director of Individual Giving and Talent at Bridges to Prosperity
  • Katy Herbert Kotlarczyk – Assistant Vice President, Gift Planning and Annual Giving, at the University of Colorado
  • Gordon Smith – Associate Vice President of Development, Planned Giving at National Jewish Health
  • Josie Stewart – Gift Planning and Major Gifts Manager at the Denver Zoological Foundation
