Planned giving today isn’t only for the large nonprofits that can afford to hire financial and legal specialists. Many small and mid-sized nonprofits are launching successful gift planning programs or expanding their informal efforts because of the tremendous value it can bring to their organization. Planned Giving: The Basics is an all-day program focusing on the nuts and bolts of gift planning. This interactive, practical training is designed to provide simple, specific ideas to help you start or enhance a planned giving program. The agenda includes:

  • Overview of gift planning
  • Finding the planned giving donor
  • Marketing methods and samples, samples, samples
  • Discussions on legacy societies, donor visits, and blended gifts
  • Accepting a bequest
  • Examples and stories to get you started!

The program is team taught by:

  • Marianne B. Barker, CSPG – Senior Director of Gift Planning at Colorado School of Mines Foundation
  • Katy Herbert Kotlarczyk – Department Head and Senior Director of Gift Planning and Leadership Giving, University of Colorado
