As many of you know, the Colorado Planned Giving Roundtable was one of the first friends I made when I moved to Colorado about 10 years ago. And what a friendship it has been!
CPGR has helped me build my fundraising toolkit, share my education with others, and expand my network of trusted colleagues. As we close out 2019, I hope you all endorse my gratitude for this incredible organization, especially for our fearless leader, CPGR’s Executive Director, Tina Drum, and for many of you who serve as our tireless volunteers and generous donors.
Now, I’m looking forward to stepping in to serve you as next year’s CPGR President, by making sure we come together to inspire our community to increase the quantity and the quality of charitable planned gifts to nonprofit organizations. (That’s our organizational mission, by the way.)
We are well on our way, wrapping up a rewarding and successful 2019:
CPGR remains the largest planned giving council in the country (#1 of 97!) with 367 members.
- We treasure the high-quality (and free!) educational programming we provide our members throughout the year, including the new-and-popular geographic roundtables that will take place again in summer 2020.
- Our endowment continues to grow with new contributions each year, some from our growing group of Legacy Partners who are prioritizing this sustainable source of future support.
- And of course, we cannot forget our sell-out CPGR Summer Symposium, which was another smash hit with 300 attendees this past August.
So what’s up next? How could things get any better?
We have some ideas in store for you all, including first-rate educational programs each month, another line-up of star speakers at the 2020 Summer Symposium (save the date for August 27-28, a Thursday/Friday this year!), and an updated “toolkit” of resources accessible to members through our website.
The CPGR Board has also voted to undertake a visioning effort to imagine – and plan toward – the CPGR of 5-10 years from now. If you would like to get involved with CPGR or have brilliant ideas of how you think our organization could be stronger, better, different, please reach out and let us know!
Thank you for your commitment to this special CPGR community, and for allowing me to lead our collective efforts in the coming year.
